H.E. Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar 
Ambassador-designate

         Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1996.  During his over 28 years career, he has worked on many important assignments both  in Delhi and abroad. At Headquarters, he has served in the Technical  Cooperation (renamed as Development Partnership Administration), Europe West  and United Nations (Political) Divisions. He has held responsible positions in Mexico  City, Mexico (as Third Secretary/Second Secretary from August 1998 to October  2001), Buenos Aires, Argentina (as First Secretary from January 2002 to May  2005), Berne, Switzerland (as First Secretary/Counsellor from November 2007 to May 2012) and Accra, Ghana (as Deputy High Commissioner from July 2012 to June  2015).  

        From July 2015 till December 2018, Mr. Kumar was the Deputy Director  General in the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi. During his over  3-years assignment at the Council, Mr. Kumar was actively engaged in Track 1.5 and 2 activities with Council's MoU partners in various countries/regions, inter alia, Russia, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, SCO, Central Asia, Africa and Latin America & Caribbean. 

        Mr. Kumar served as India’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam from  December 2018 to January 2022. He was the first resident Ambassador of India to  the Republic of Estonia from March 2022 to April 2025.  

Mr. Kumar is a graduate in Physics and Law. He is proficient (spoken &  written) in Hindi, English and Spanish languages.
