Speech by H.E. Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar, Ambassador of India to Argentina, on the occasion of the Inauguration of the Exhibition “India: Past, Present and Future” in Casa del Bicentenario on 15 March 2026

Esteemed colleague Ms. Noelia Dutrey, Distinguished members of the Diplomatic Corps, members of the Indian community, Friends from the media and cultural fraternity, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the inauguration of the photo and multimedia exhibition India: Past, Present and Future here at the iconic Casa Nacional del Bicentenario. I sincerely thank the Government of Argentina represented by the Foreign Ministry's International Cooperation Department, the National Secretariat of Culture, and the Casa del Bicentenario, local authorities, and all our collaborators who have supported the organization of this exhibition, which will remain open to the public from 18 March to 12 April 2026. The event will also feature cultural shows and screening of Bollywood movies subtitled in Spanish on Fridays and Saturdays. The exhibition will also display works of Argentine visual artists Ms. María Florencia Salomone and Ms. Belén Gesualdo.

  1. 2. India and Argentina, as vibrant and pluralistic democracies, have steadily strengthened and diversified their bilateral relationship over the past eight decades. Our partnership has evolved well beyond traditional diplomatic and economic cooperation. Today, it is enriched by strong people-to-people connections, vibrant cultural exchanges, and a growing mutual appreciation of each other’s civilizational heritage.
  2. 3. In recent years, we have witnessed a remarkable surge of interest in India across Argentina. Many Argentines have developed a deep curiosity about India’s spiritual traditions, holistic way of life, and its rich cultural and artistic heritage. Yoga and meditation are now widely practiced across the country, reflecting a profound resonance with India’s ancient philosophies. For many in Argentina, India represents not only artistic and spiritual inspiration, but also a pathway toward inner growth, resilience, and a sense of global connectedness. These shared values have played a significant role in nurturing a positive and contemporary image of India in Argentina.
  3. 4. At the same time, we observe a growing curiosity among the Argentine public to learn more about India’s glorious civilizational past, its vibrant and dynamic present, and its inspiring journey toward the future. Yet, the geographical distance of nearly 16,000 kilometres between our two countries often makes travel to India challenging for many who are eager to experience the country firsthand.
  4. 5. It is precisely to bridge this distance that the Embassy of India in Buenos Aires conceived this exhibition. Through India: Past, Present and Future,” we hope to bring India closer to the people of Argentina. This exhibition offers a visual journey through India’s millennia-old civilization, its extraordinary cultural diversity, its democratic vitality, and its remarkable achievements in science, technology, and economic development.
  5. 6. Visitors will be able to experience India’s ancient heritage—from historic monuments and spiritual traditions to artistic expressions that have flourished over thousands of years. At the same time, the exhibition highlights the India of today: a nation of innovation, creativity, and youthful energy that is making significant contributions in areas such as digital technology, space exploration, sustainable development, and global cooperation. Finally, it presents India’s vision for the future—one that is inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in the timeless wisdom of its civilization.
  6. 7.Ladies and Gentlemen,

Cultural exhibitions such as this serve as powerful bridges between societies. They allow us to transcend geographical distances and connect through shared curiosity, creativity, and understanding. It is our hope that this exhibition will inspire Argentine visitors to discover more about India—its people, its traditions, its ideas, and its aspirations.

  1. 8. As you explore the exhibition, I invite you to view it not only as a collection of photographs and multimedia presentations, but as an invitation to engage with India’s timeless heritage, to witness its present dynamism, and to imagine the possibilities of its future.
  2. 9. I hope that this exhibition will serve as a window into India and further deepen the friendship and cultural understanding between the people of India and Argentina. It si precisely for this reason that I request all present to kindly disseminate the information about the Exhibition amongst their friends and family.

Thank you all for your presence this evening. I wish you an enriching and enjoyable visit to the exhibition.

Muchas gracias. Dhanyavaad.
